What is a Fanlisting?

A fanlisting is a site that collects a list of fans from all over the world for a particular subject. Bad Fish is the approved fanlisting for Jaws in the Movies and Literature categories at The Fanlistings Network.

Da Da Da Da Da Da

Jaws was a Summer Blockbuster in 1975. It was based off of the novel of the same name by Peter Benchley, who helped write the film's script. I've read the novel, and it's pretty fantastic. I recommend it to any fans of Jaws, as it provides more information on the characters in the film. Like any book-to-movie production, a lot from the book was left out of the film. Having said that, the film stands very strong on its own. I saw and loved Jaws years before I read the book.

Jaws as a film was culturally impacting. It led the way for movies like Alien, Piranha, Anaconda, and Deep Blue Sea. It redefined the Summer Blockbuster, and how it was released. It scared audiences everywhere, and beach attendance went down for a couple years after the film's release. I, personally, can't get into the ocean without thinking about sharks, and humming "da da da da da da."

Although the film vilified sharks, the film inspired people to learn about sharks, and research and study on them increased.

Jaws won many awards, including Oscars for Best Film Editing, Best Original Dramatic Score, and Best Sound. The film also helped make its director, Steven Spielberg, a household name.

Jaws spawned three sequels: Jaws 2, Jaws 3D, and Jaws: the Revenge, the last of which we fans just don't talk about. While none of them reached the level of success of Jaws, they were all fun movies.
