My name is Todd. I was born, then I aged some. I doubt I will die, because that would take hard work. I'm an aspiring writer living in South Carolina with my dogs, Huck and Helo, and my boyfriend, Lee. I hate writing about myself, but you can read about some of my interests below.
Video Games: I wasn't allowed to play a lot of video games when I was little because I grew up in a strict children's home, but once I got out I started discovering games like Mega Man X, Sonic Adventure, and Super Mario 64. I fell in love with video games. I always have at least one game going, and I have a pile of games ready to play next. My favorite games include Super Mario 64, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy X, Chrono Trigger, Mega Man 3, Ace Attorney, Kingdom Hearts, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Donkey Kong Country Returns, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 3D World, and Sonic and Knuckles. I guess I play pretty much everything.
Books: My current favorite authors are Richard Matheson, Stephen King, Jack Ketchum, John Grisham, Steve Alten, Jeff Strand, and John Everson. I read a lot of random things on my Kindle, but I always seem to go back to one of those authors.
When I was younger, I really enjoyed K. A. Applegate's Animorphs and Everworld series, and Madeleine L'Engle's Time Quartet. My favorites books of all time are Matheson's I Am Legend and L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time. My favorite literary genre is Horror.
I also really like graphic novels, and am slowly getting into manga. Some of those I've enjoyed are From Hell, Y: The Last Man, Mushi-shi, Ultimate Spider-Man, Batman: Earth One, Superman: Earth One, The Walking Dead, and Parasyte.
Music: I love music, and the type of music I listen to never stays the same. I guess something worth saying would be that I love music that makes you feel something. It doesn't necessarily have to tell a story, but if it evokes an emotion, I usually like it. I love country, 80s rock, 90s pop, songs from the British Invasion in the late 60s, and songs from the Disco era. I love listening to original covers to classic songs, and I think that's why I like American Idol so much.
My favorite bands and solo artists are (in no particular order) Fuel, the Bee Gees, Matchbox 20, Radiohead, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Billy Currington, Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Madonna, Jewel, Incubus, Joe Nichols, Natalie Merchant, Alanis Morissette, Roslin Murphy. Jennifer Lopez, Jason Mraz, Shania Twain, OMD, Faith Hill, and Sixpence None the Richer.
I also really like movie soundtracks. I guess it goes back to the whole feeling something in a song. When I hear a song from a movie, I feel what I felt when I watched the movie. Try it out for yourself. Rent Pretty in Pink tonight and listen to OMD's If You Leave on your way to work tomorrow.
TV: I don't watch a lot of TV during the summer because there's nothing really on, but during the fall and winter, I usually have a line-up recording. Some of my favorite shows are Supernatural, American Idol, The Apprentice, Big Brother, Dancing With the Stars, Friends, Will and Grace, CSI, Dead Like Me, Law and Order SVU, Power Rangers, American Horror Story, and Battlestar Galactica.
I like the idea of reality TV a lot for some reason. I eventually want to be on one. Something about manipulating and beating out others to win money just sounds really fun to me.
Movies: I love movies probably more than I love video games. Like music, the types of movies I watch changes from day to day. I like a wide range of stuff mostly, so one week I'll be really into horror, and then randomly one night I'll be craving a chick flick.
What I like most, though, are movies that surprise me at the end. Examples of those type of movies are the Saw movies, The Life of David Gale, and Identity. More of my favorite movies include Ever After, Philadelphia, Halloween, Child's Play, You've Got Mail, Murder By Numbers, The Sixth Sense, Jaws, We're the Millers, Scream, and Sleepy Hollow.
Art: Although I can't draw or paint myself, I have a high appreciation for art. My favorite pieces are Picaso's The Rest, The Scream by Edvard Munch, The Dusk by Claude Monet, and Starry Night by Vincent Van Gough. I have a poster of each hanging in my apartment.
